About btcnode.run
A field manual for running Bitcoin Core — not affiliate listicle spam.
Editorial mission
Bitcoin only. We help people who already decided to run a node pick honest hardware, understand VPS trade-offs, and configure Bitcoin Core without node-in-a-box mythology. We also tell the truth when a node is unnecessary for most holders.
How comparisons work
Hardware picks start from real constraints: disk throughput for initial block download, RAM headroom for indexes, idle power for 24/7 home use, and total cost including storage upgrades vendors omit. We publish ranges, not fake benchmark charts. Prices fluctuate — always check the vendor before buying. Methodology details: Methodology.
Affiliate disclosure
Some Amazon links are affiliate links marked rel="sponsored nofollow". They help pay hosting; they do not change verdicts. Premium boxes we would not buy ourselves get called out. Full legal text: Disclaimer.
Update policy
We refresh chain-size estimates, Bitcoin Core version references, and price bands quarterly or when major hardware shifts (e.g., Pi memory pricing, Hetzner plan changes). Each guide shows context for its era; the setup guide links to bitcoincore.org for authoritative releases.
What we are not
- Not financial advisors, exchange promoters, or altcoin media
- Not a wallet, custody service, or RPC exposure tutorial
- Not promising total anonymity — nodes help verification; privacy takes more work
